To set permissions and access levels for shared documents in Google Docs, follow these steps:
- Open the Google Docs document that you want to share.
- Click on the "Share" button in the top-right corner of the screen. A sharing panel will open on the right side of the document.
- In the sharing panel, enter the email addresses or Google Groups of the people you want to share the document with in the "People" field.
- Choose the access level you want to give to the recipients by clicking on the drop-down menu next to their email addresses. The available access levels are:
- "Can edit": allows recipients to modify the document, add comments, and share it with others.
- "Can comment": only allows recipients to leave comments on the document without making any changes.
- "Can view": only allows recipients to view the document without making any changes or leaving comments.
- (Optional) If you want to give all recipients the same access level, you can click on the drop-down at the bottom of the sharing panel and select an access level for everyone at once.
- (Optional) If you want to notify the recipients about the shared document, check the box next to "Notify people" before clicking on the "Done" button.
- Click on the "Done" button to apply the sharing settings and send the document invitations to the recipients.
Note that the document owners and editors can change the access levels and permissions for shared documents at any time by following the same steps.
