To add footnotes or endnotes in Microsoft Word, follow these steps:
Footnotes:
- Place your cursor in the text where you want to insert the footnote.
- Go to the "References" tab in the toolbar.
- Click on the "Insert Footnote" button.
- A number or symbol will be inserted at the cursor position and a corresponding footnote section will appear at the bottom of the page.
- Type the content of your footnote in the footnote section.
Endnotes:
- Place your cursor in the text where you want to insert the endnote.
- Go to the "References" tab in the toolbar.
- Click on the "Insert Endnote" button.
- A number or symbol will be inserted at the cursor position and a corresponding endnote section will appear at the end of the document.
- Type the content of your endnote in the endnote section.
You can customize the numbering style, format, and position of footnotes or endnotes by right-clicking on a footnote or endnote number and selecting "Footnote/Endnote Separator" or "Footnote/Endnote Properties."
